The Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior is launching a campaign titled ‘Make this Eid safer’ (Lenjaal Farhat Al-Eid Ammenah in Arabic) on the first day of Eid-Al-Fitr today.
Sixty vehicles carrying the safety slogan will patrol the streets of Doha and near Hamad International Airport. The aim is to reduce traffic accidents through the intensive presence of traffic police and raise awareness to ensure safety during Eid holidays when traffic is at its peak. Patrols will be present on roads leading to mosques and Eid prayer grounds which witness large crowds, at commercial complexes, public parks and other crowded areas. In addition to monitoring traffic movements, the patrols will also distribute brochures and awareness materials to reduce anxiety of motorists, encourage them not to use mobile phones while driving and promote the use of seatbelts.
